Sports and studies can go hand in hand when students learn to manage both. Matrix High School, Sikar, has shown this through its sports achievements for the 2026–27 session, with 474 medals won across 24 games and 90 students selected for state-level competitions as of October 2026. What makes these numbers more encouraging is that Class 9 and 10 CBSE students won 205 medals, showing that a busy sports schedule does not necessarily mean putting academic goals aside.
For students who love sports, these achievements offer motivation to keep playing while staying focused on their studies. For parents, especially those whose children are preparing for board exams, they provide a useful perspective on balancing classroom learning with sports. This blog explores the school’s medal tally, top-performing games, class-wise and age-wise achievements, and students’ progress at state and national levels. It also looks at how students can pursue their sporting interests without losing sight of their academic goals.

ToggleWhich competitions do the students play in?
Matrix High School students won medals in 24 games across three types of competitions: SGFI games, CBSE cluster games and open tournaments. Here is what each competition is and how many medals it produced. The full game-wise count is in the table further down.

SGFI Games: 318 Medals
SGFI (School Games Federation of India), recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, runs the main inter-school sports competitions. Students compete at district level first, and the best players move on to state level. Matrix High School students won the most medals here, across 19 games, led by archery and wrestling (45 each) and karate (40).
CBSE Cluster Games: 61 Medals
CBSE cluster games are inter-school sports meets held for CBSE schools. Matrix High School students won medals in 6 games here, and these games also led to the school’s national-level selections. Kabaddi (23) and boxing (17) won the most medals here.

Open Tournaments: 95 Medals
Open tournaments are district championships held for a single game, outside the school games system. Matrix High School students took part in three of them, and 68 of their 95 medals were gold:
- Ju-jitsu: 57 medals (41 gold, 11 silver, 5 bronze) at the Ju-Jitsu District Championship, held in Sikar in 2026
- Karate: 24 medals (13 gold, 5 silver, 6 bronze) at the Sikar District Karate Championships, held in Sikar on 28 April 2026
- Handball: 14 medals (all 14 gold) at the 43rd District Level Junior Handball Championship, where the team beat Khatu Shyam Ji 17-11 and Pratap Club Palsana 16-9
How the Medals Are Counted
All 24 games together won 474 medals: 129 gold, 150 silver and 195 bronze. In team games such as handball, cricket, basketball, volleyball and kabaddi, every player in the team gets a medal. That is why one handball title at the district championship adds 14 gold medals to the count.

| Total | 474 | 129 | 150 | 195 |
Which games won the most medals?

Matrix High School students won medals in 24 different games. That matters because a school that wins in only two or three sports usually depends on a few strong players. When medals come from 24 games, it means many students are training seriously in many sports.

Combat sports (karate, ju-jitsu, boxing, wrestling, wushu, judo and taekwondo) together gave 263 medals, which is more than half of the total. In boxing, students won medals in 14 weight categories, from 34-36 kg to 80+ kg, indicating wins came from many different fighters.

Which games turned medals into gold most often?

Total medals tell you how often students reached the podium. The share of gold tells you how often they finished first, and a few games stand out here.
| Game | Medals | Gold | Gold Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| Handball | 14 | 14 | 100% |
| Ju-jitsu | 57 | 41 | 72% |
| Judo | 10 | 6 | 60% |
| Chess | 11 | 5 | 45% |
| Weightlifting | 16 | 7 | 44% |
| Taekwondo | 12 | 5 | 42% |
Every handball medal was gold, since all 14 came from one team’s win. Ju-jitsu had the most golds of any single game, mostly from the Ju-Jitsu District Championship in Sikar in 2026. Judo and chess also finished first often, with close to half or more of their medals in gold.
Which classes won the most medals?

Medals came from every class from Class 4 to Class 12, in both CBSE and RBSE sections. Class 9 CBSE leads by a wide margin.
| Class | Board | Total | Gold | Silver | Bronze |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Class 5 | CBSE | 9 | 2 | 4 | 3 |
| Class 6 | CBSE | 14 | 4 | 4 | 6 |
| RBSE | 6 | 0 | 6 | 0 | |
| Class 7 | CBSE | 29 | 3 | 10 | 16 |
| Class 8 | 50 | 9 | 15 | 26 | |
| Class 9 | 129 | 37 | 38 | 54 | |
| Class 10 | 76 | 27 | 25 | 24 | |
| Class 10 | RBSE | 8 | 3 | 1 | 4 |
| Class 11 Science | CBSE | 26 | 7 | 8 | 11 |
| Class 11 Commerce | 16 | 4 | 4 | 8 | |
| Class 11 Arts | 15 | 8 | 3 | 4 | |
| Class 12 Science | 28 | 8 | 13 | 7 | |
| Class 12 Commerce | 26 | 6 | 10 | 10 | |
| Class 12 Arts | 20 | 4 | 6 | 10 | |
| Class 12 Science | RBSE | 11 | 5 | 2 | 4 |
| Others (4 CBSE; 7, 8 and 9 RBSE; class not recorded) | 11 | 2 | 1 | 8 | |
Class 9 and Class 10 CBSE students together won 205 medals, which is about 43 percent of the total. These are board-focused years, so this answers the question parents ask most. Students in these classes are playing at a high level in the same years they prepare for their boards. Class 11 and 12 CBSE Science students also won 54 medals between them (65 if you add Class 12 RBSE Science), in the same years many Science students also prepare for JEE or NEET.

Which age groups did best?

Most school competitions are split by age. Here is how each age group did:
| Age Group | Total | Gold | Silver | Bronze |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| U-12 | 6 | 3 | 1 | 2 |
| U-14 | 136 | 26 | 42 | 68 |
| U-15 | 8 | 5 | 1 | 2 |
| U-16 | 33 | 23 | 7 | 3 |
| U-17 | 112 | 28 | 30 | 54 |
| U-18 | 17 | 12 | 3 | 2 |
| U-19 | 148 | 18 | 66 | 64 |
| Open | 14 | 14 | 0 | 0 |
U-19 won the most medals with 148, followed by U-14 with 136 and U-17 with 112. These three are the main SGFI age groups, which is why most medals were won there. U-16 and U-18 have smaller totals but a high share of gold.

How many Matrix High School students reached the state level?
District medals come first. Selection for state-level games is harder, because only the top players from each district go forward. So far in the 2026–27 session, 90 Matrix High School students have been selected for the state level.
| Game | State Selections |
|---|---|
| Karate | 22 |
| Archery | 13 |
| Wushu | 8 |

| Judo | 4 |
| Taekwondo | 4 |
| Roller skating | 3 |
| Swimming | 2 |

| Total | 90 |
By age group, U-19 had 30 selections, U-17 had 29, and U-14 had 22, with the rest from U-15, U-16 and U-12. Karate alone sent 22 students to the state level, and archery sent 13, which means both games have many players at a strong level.
What did students win at the state level?
At the state level, students won 11 medals: 3 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze.
| Medal | Game and Age Group |

| Silver | Karate U-15 (2), Karate U-16 |
| Bronze | Karate U-14, Karate U-15, Karate U-17, Wushu U-19, Netball U-14 |
Judo gave two state golds from just 10 total medals, which means the judo players who reached state level did very well there. Karate gave six of the eleven state medals, which matches its lead in district medals and state selections.
Did any Matrix High School student reach the national level?

Yes, seven students reached the national level. Six of them were selected through the CBSE cluster games: two boys in boxing (U-19, 46-49 kg and 52-56 kg, both cluster gold), two girls in boxing (U-19, 54-57 kg and U-17, 75-80 kg, both cluster silver), one boy in U-14 long jump (cluster gold) and one boy in U-17 taekwondo, 55-59 kg (cluster gold). The seventh, a U-19 girl in judo (below 63 kg), won a national gold at the CBSE National Judo Championship, Karnal.

What does this sports record mean for you?
If you are in Class 6 to 12 and you love a sport, these numbers show that sport and study can go together. Students at Matrix High School are winning medals in their board years and in their JEE and NEET preparation years, at the district, state, and national levels. Students train on campus outside school hours, in the morning and evening, so practice does not take time away from classes. The campus has a 400-metre athletics track, a full-size boxing ring, a swimming pool and an 8-lane shooting range.
So talk to your sports teacher about which game suits you, find out the trial dates for the next SGFI season, and start practising a little every day. All the best.
